Proposed Entry Into The 5G Access Agreement ("AA") With Digital Nasional Berhad ("DNB")

On 2 November 2022, Maxis issued an announcement to Bursa Securities, that pursuant to section 223 of the Companies Act 2016 and paragraph 10.07 of the Bursa Main Market Listing Requirements (“MMLR”), it is mandatory for Maxis to seek shareholders’ approval to enter into the AA with DNB given the nature of the AA and the substantial undertaking involved.​

The Government has since announced that it will be reviewing the rollout of the national 5G network, and expects that the 5G network implementation policy (“Implementation Policy”) will be tabled before the Cabinet by the end of the first quarter of 2023. ​Accordingly, the Board of Directors of Maxis believes it is prudent to postpone the seeking of shareholders' approval until after the Implementation Policy is finalised.
